We live in Ohio, and are searching for a house for rent, not an apartment. What is the best way to go about searching homes for rent? We can find plenty of apartments for rent, and houses for sale, but we are having a hard time finding houses for rent.

Also you might want to check Craigslist. I find it superbly helpful but I also know other people have had problems with spam on there. It may be worth a try I’ve subletted quite a few apartments on there so I know the housing section works pretty well.

   Many "houses" for rent are being handled by Real Estate Brokers/Agents – many owners list with them, rather than spend money on ads, or enrage their neighbors by placing a "for rent" sign on their lawn. Find an area or two that you like, and check those local RE agents.
