where do you find lists of homes for sale due to foreclosure in your area?

March 92010

You can find fha foreclosures at www.hud.gov They are currently government owned and being auctioned off. The site is free, and you can click on any state and it will direct you to the management company that’s selling the properties for that state, where you can search through the listings. These are only the FHA foreclosures though, realtytrac.com is your next best bet for all types, though the FHA seem to be the cheapest.

Contact your real estate agent and ask for "short sale" homes or REO properties.

Your local paper, or realtytrac.com You have to pay to get the address, but if you do the research on your local GIS you can figure it out without paying.

There’s a very good overview of how to get free listing information and reports for sites entering foreclosure at this real estate site:

    http://mysite.verizon.net/dsarokin/xa/id4.html
    Finding Foreclosure and Pre-Foreclosure Properties

It should give you everything you need.
